The chapel has a footprint of just 5 x 7m, and the brief was to provide a sitting room, kitchen, bathroom, bedroom & study within the space, without loosing the feeling of height and space.

The windows are 1800mm above floor level, and the sitting room floor was raised in order to take advantage of spectacular views.

The sitting room is open to the roof, with a cantilevered desk projecting into the space at first floor level –providing the study area.

The sitting room and study are designated by a single glass and steel screen, which incorporates the edge of the study floor,

The sleeping area is separated from the study by a folding beech screen, and has a second glazed balcony over the kitchen dining area.

The use of internal glass balconies preserves the sense of light and space, and the original volume of the chapel remains fully legible.
